LLDPE & LDPE Plastic Bags: common questions
What is the difference between LDPE and LLDPE bags?
LDPE (low-density polyethylene) is soft, flexible and has good clarity. LLDPE (linear low-density polyethylene) feels similar but has higher tensile strength and puncture resistance, so it can often carry the same load at a lower thickness. Many bags use a blend of the two to balance clarity, softness and strength.
Should I choose LDPE or LLDPE for my product?
It depends on the load and how the bag is handled. For light, soft or display items, LDPE's clarity and softness usually matter most. For heavier or sharp-edged items, or rough handling, more LLDPE in the blend adds strength. Tell us what you are packing and we will recommend a material and thickness.
