Shrink Wrap: common questions
How does shrink wrap work?
Shrink film is stretched while it is being made and holds that stretch as it cools. When it is heated again with a heat gun or in a shrink tunnel, it contracts and pulls tightly around the product.
What is polyethylene shrink film used for?
PE shrink film is widely used to bundle several items into one pack, such as bottles or cartons, to cover goods on pallets, and as a protective outer wrap against dust and moisture.
Is shrink wrap the same as stretch film?
No. Shrink wrap needs heat to tighten around the product, while stretch film tightens because it is stretched as it is wrapped. If you want to secure pallets without heat, see our stretch roll.
